چکیده
The purpose of this research was to study the feasibility incorporating steel slags into coarse bituminous mixtures. objective twofold: reduce dependence on natural aggregates, and provide a use for industrial by-products. studied come from manufacture carbon in electric furnaces are divided two types: Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) slag Ladle (LF) slag. mixture designed is concrete (AC22G), base courses flexible pavements. In first phase, physical characterization materials carried out check their suitability. second three types mixes were designed: control mix (made with limestone aggregates), where LF introduced replace filler fine fraction (sand) mix; finally, manufacturing totally sustainable analyzed, which would fully incorporate EAF as aggregate filler. third final subjected different mechanical, water sensitivity, durability tests. demonstrated that incorporation substitute mixtures feasible, meeting regulatory requirements, improving sustainability construction industry, well reducing emissions, contributing climate change mitigation.

IN T R O D U C T IO N The major material utilized in the construction of the roads, streets and highways of this country is asphalt. Of the nation’s 3.84 million miles of roads, 1.86 million are paved, hard-surfaced structures. 1.74 million or 94% of these paved roads are constructed of asphalt (Fig. 1). Likewise, within the state of Indiana, 83% or about 9300 miles of the 11,200 miles under th...
متن کاملBehavior of Flexible Pavements on Expansive Soils
This investigation discusses the findings on analysis results of a pavement structure constructed on a relatively expansive material consisting mainly of brown clayey silt in Tebessa, Algeria. Cores were brought to the laboratory from a piece of roadwork. Remolded samples were taken from subgrade of a deteriorated road. The soils were generally found to be of medium plasticity and of a medium t...
